Onward, Oracle sages

Given the circumstances, today has been a great day – some context, perhaps. Today was my last day with Accenture, having been severed due to current economic conditions. I get it. I really do. Most of all, I appreciate the efforts of my Enkitec leadership to retain me, or have me transferred to another group. Alas, it was not to be.

A farewell letter

Dear select friend, colleague and person who annoy me a lot less than everyone else (yes, I bcc’d everyone so I can hide that the only person I am addressing this to is you….!)

It’s been a true privilege and honour to have worked with you.  Since I joined Enkitec in August 2013, it’s been an fantastic 2,500+ days filled with projects that fascinated, terrified, amused (and yes, sometime bored), but every one a learning experience.  I’ve been standing on the shoulders of giants since I joined, which is a funny analogy since I hate heights and you’re shorter than me….  Alas with the dystopian future that 2020 has decided to throw at all of us, economic headwinds (mumbles in beer), it’s time to depart Accenture (did I mention dystopian future?).

We choose to depart Accenture in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of my energies and skills, because that challenge is one that I am willing to accept, one I am unwilling to postpone, and one I intend to win, and the others, too.

Do keep in touch.  Or don’t.  It’s really up to you.  All my communication channels are listed below.  I also have bird seed for those sending messages by carrier pigeon.  Alas, I am not Morse compatible but if you need assistance, I recommend sending up the bat signal or using SOS rather than CQD.

So what next? Well, I’m taking the rest of July off to relax and have some fun. Update the CV and publish some web stuff. Take some photos. Do some overdue house reorganization (purge of crap). Might even get my sport pilot certification out of the way (https://www.thrustflight.com/private-sport-pilot/).

But tonight… tonight will be some sublime burgers that I’ll throw on the barbie, washed down with some beer and at 7pm, some champagne.

Looking forward to dinner with my ex-boss (Saint Martin!!) later this week.
