After a restful flight from the US, we landed in Medellin, cleared immigration/customs and were met by our driver (arranged by the hotel) who whisked us from the international airport to the east of the city into central Medellin.
Upon reaching Hotel Du Parc Royal, we checked in (thanks for the great welcome fruity cocktail) and went to our huge room.
Venturing out, we had a good early dinner at Alambique on Calle 10/Carrera 41. This restaurant is situated two flights of stairs above the street with lovely plants and views of the mountains.
So, after that… the following morning, Claudia went on a walking tour (I skipped that) and we met around lunch time at the Museum of Antioquia. This large museum, located next to the Plaza Botero, is well worth the visit and features a significant Botero collection.
After all that art, it’s time for some food….
After a nice lunch, we visited the Memory Museum, dedicated to the troubled times of Colombian past. Claudia spotted a group doing something interesting and this old lady hijacked her and dragged her into their lair…. Embroidery, knitting and all that good stuff.
