Our recent visit to French Polynesia was a nice relaxing week for us. Our intention, to lie around in the sun, drink fruity drinks from coconut shells and be around as few people as possible. We achieved all of the above by staying on the smaller atoll island of Tikehau (rather than the busier islands like Tahiti or Bora Bora). Armed with Kindle reading devices it was definitely relaxing.
A typical sunset, made more interesting with the clouds that swam past.
Of course, there were hermit crabs everywhere.
On a coconut…. under my chair.
They would gather in these little clumps and I’m sure it wasn’t social
Of course, there were other crabs too, including this colourful chap.
Highlighting the dangers for anemones from our waste products, this specimen was entangled with fishing line and it took ten minutes to carefully remove it.
Now it’s happier.
Here’s one in a small rock pool.
And one with a friend.
Our simple hut 🙂
Typical lagoon fish meal. Nice presentation and excellent food quality.
Finally, the 200 degree view from our swimming deck.
